Whirl Wind

It has been a whirl wind of a month in my life! I’ve kept busy each weekend with events, travelling, and I spent one weekend catching up on day-to-day tasks such as piles of laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I am glad that we’re finally settled into our usual routine.

The new schedule is keeping both DB and me productive. The only hiccup we’ve had is due to a doctor’s appointment I scheduled. I’ve not shared this with many, but for some reason I feel like opening up here. Over the last year, my back pain has become nearly unbearable. It started to take a turn for the worse a few months ago when I noticed the pain was a consistent bother to me every day. After several complaints (okay, maybe more like whines) to DB, he finally urged me to seek medical attention. I know this must have been difficult for him because I loathe any kind of medical attention so getting me to see a doctor was like asking me to give up crafting. I would just die! I’m not opposed to it; I’d rather just let illnesses/sickly things run their course or take over the counter meds (even those make me cringe). A friend recently told me she was a firm believer in modern medicines. I suppose I just have a hard time ingesting something I know nothing about.

But alas, the pain has caused me much strife, both psychically and emotionally. It has also taken a toll on my ability to function properly at work. I’m very fortunate, so I give thanks to the universe everyday that I am able to work and that I even have a job. This is ultimately why I’ve chosen to try medication. Yoga seems to help as well; I’ve just had too many excuses come up! Hopefully, after this monthly trial of anti-inflammatory meds, I’ll be able to partake in some yoga sessions again. For now, I’m trying to be patient and get the needed rest my body craves as it’s been so exhausted lately (med side effects). Thanks to DB and a dear friend, I’m trying to stay focused on reviving my health.

So with all of this happening, my blog has once again taken a back seat. Sleep has definitely won over most evenings this last week. I’m starting to feel better though so I’m hoping to get my journal notes in order and post about much needed crafty progress. I have a lot planned for my musings here!

Things to look forward to:

• Review my crafting goals for the remainder of this year

• Complete/start my Pay-It-Forward projects (I cannot wait to share these!)

• Begin Holiday crafting, or at least think about it

• Open a shared fiber-craft Etsy shop with my dear friend, Heather

• And as always, DREAM about decreasing both my stash & my piles of patterns!

How about you? What are some of your goals or Holiday ideas for this half of the year?

New Directions

Hello Blogosphere!

Okay, I'm not getting my Gleek on with the New Directions, rather I am looking for a new direction for my blog. This is actually the primary reason I stopped posting. My itentions were to spruce up the place a bit with custom logos, templates, extra pages, and other fun buttons.

I set my mind to do this and began searching for custom blog template tutorials. This led me to going back and attemping to re-learn HTML. That led me to memories of long ago (when I first learned some software language) and thus led me to going completely spacey!

Time has also been a factor. I've yet to use the schedule I created to help mobilewill and myself out. We've wanted to set aside time for our hobbies/passions without compromising spending time with one another. There were nights to which we were lucky to have a conversation over dinner. So instead I began to relax more and craft less. This pattern will hopefully change soon! Our plan is to start following the new schedule August first.

Where does this leave my blog in the meantime? I've decided to leave it idle until I have it tweaked to my liking.

So until then (hopefully August), I hope you are doing well!

I'd love to hear from you! What have you been up to lately?

with peace, love, unity, & respectfully yours,

Pay It Forward: Handmade Edition 2011

In the beginning of this year, my friend Amy over at Mrs. Darsie’s Menegarie participated in the Facebook/blog meme, Pay It Forward: Handmade Edition.

Basically, she promised to send something handmade to the first 5 people who left a comment on her blog post. I was excited that I was able to be involved! This has been on my to-post list. Since I hadn’t been posting regularly, I had completely forgotten about it!

It wasn’t until I came home after knit-night on Tuesday evening that I saw a package waiting for me on my workstation. Puzzled, I looked at the return label and I remembered that Amy had mentioned that I should be on the “snail-mail” lookout.  To my surprise it was her pay-it forward package to me! And pay-it forward she did!

Below are two gorgeous hand-spun by Amy skeins.

Van Gogh's Starry Night with Tardis by TerryLightfoot.

This soft blue fiber has been amazingly spun with silver crochet thread, giving it a glamorous look and feel. It is cleverly named, “T.A.R.D.I.S” after my favorite means of vehicular space transportation, from the BBC show, Doctor Who.

Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, Episode 13 "The Big Bang"

The deep velvety red skein, “Bow Ties Are Cool”, is inspired by the 11th Doctor from the series, in which he wears a red bow-tie and is a fan of red Fez hats.

I absolutely love the two skeins. They are totally me! Thanks so much Amy! This has become the inspiration I needed to keep knitting away at my current projects so that I can start on my very on Pay It Forward!

I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here.  They in turn must post this and send something they make to the first 5 people to comment on their blog.  The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 recipients sometime in 2011.

While I know some of you are not active bloggers, but are active followers, I am willing to break my little promise and offer you the chance at a handmade item by me as well. Maybe it will inspire you. So comment away my dear friends. :)
